Question by FreeCheese: Why are people so sure of themselves when it comes to nutrition? Why are some people snobs about it?
I hate how when someone asks about dieting, suddenly everyone’s a guru. I mean, its really nice if people give advice or state something in a way that makes it clear that its an opinion, but it drives me bonkers when people act like they know that they’re way is the only way. People have this attitude. “I KNOW that Atkins is unhealthy.” “I KNOW that being vegan is the only way to lose weight.” I KNOW that carbs are bad.” But most often, “There’s no way you’ll be successful using….” Different methods work for different people. People get in these huge diet debates, but the fact is, they’re pointless. As long as everyone has a different body and different brain, there are multiple answers and solutions. The only thing someone should say that they’re confident in, is proven science. Not studies or surveys, not personal experience, but scientific facts. Such as, “If you consumer more calories than you burn, some will be stored as fat.” And, “Carrots contain vitamin C.”
Who agrees?
Added details: I’m not annoyed with anyone for giving out helpful advice, but I hate when people go “You are such an idiot!” or “That popular diet is moronic!”

Best answer:

Answer by Aoife
People should learn to take everything as opinion, and wait until they have found it fact to belive it. There is always going to be “facts” thrown at you that at clearly untrue, but you as a person need to learn how to sort facts from fiction.

bodybuildinghealth.blogspot.com Have we ever talked about the importance of sleep. The body, as usual, you need rest, we are not machines. Due to travel for work on many occasions I notice that I can not sleep. After trying to resolve it in a thousand ways, I really discovered how to sleep well. While traveling, as I commented, I altered the sleep schedule. I always chalked it was away from home as I used to hotel rooms. In addition, for days it is always difficult to follow a diet to lose weight. I tried hot drinks, I tried to read a little in bed, take a bath relaxing but still did not achieve my goal. Actually, I realized that not only changed my diet while traveling, also changed my training routine so I decided to do some exercise even if she were near my gym. I started running in the mornings, was where he was and the results were spectacular. In addition to aerobic exercise helps prevent heart attack, I descubierton that is my solution to the problem of sleep when I’m away from home. I mentioned to a coworker, who is pregnant, and she told me she was very envious because her since she is pregnant not long year for fear of damaging their future daughter. After a long debate, I convinced her to ask your doctor about exercises for pregnant women, because it seemed a shame that someone neglecting their bodies. In fact, many people who at a certain age stop exercising, years later he was trying to fix with plastic surgery. Therefore, those who suffer a sleep problem, I …

Question by ghostface2411: i want to get cut more defined?
i lift 3 – 4 times a week … i have only a little bit of fat on the bottom of my stomach i am 6 foot 2 … 180 pounds … my chest is not so defined nor are my arms …. i want to bulk up a little bit more maybe up to around 190 195 … but wile doing so i also want to get cut and i know that you should do less weight more reps … now in doing so should i also incorporate a little resistance ? cause i know you cant “Zone Burn Fat” so since all the fat on my body is located right below my belly button im assuming that is th only place ill loose fat but im curious as to How long should i work out …. how many reps how many sets … as of right now my bench max is 230 … it use to be 285 so give me an estimated amount of time before ill see the results and how long before you think ab’s will be visible cause the top abs are already visible … its just as i said the bottom of the stomach and its kinda awkward …. thank you =)
also should i take creatine ? or anything to make my muscles look better during the process… cause right now im trying to get ripped pretty quick before summer…. i mean it sounds outrageous seeing as though summer is only a month and a week away … but i workout intense and i can go on a strict diet… salad and chicken if necessary … just tell me how and what to do what to use …. if anything …. what to eat what to drink … cause right now im currently taking the GNC diet powder … and on occasion i take Nano Vapor but i find it to give me a headache … so i might just give it away or something …. please tell me what you recommend

also if you have any diet recommendations thats greatly appreciated 2 …

thank you
Frank

Best answer:

Answer by Turkeyman
To be cut you need to lose fat, then you can see the muscles more, thus the ‘cut’ look.

I noticed you didn’t say you do anything for cardio. If you want to be cut START RUNNING. You have to do cardio like run (the most effective way), swim, bike, play basketball, or whatever – but you can’t JUST lift weights.

(Don’t worry it won’t affect your muscles negatively.)

-P.S. Have you ever seen a long-distance runner who wasn’t cut and defined?

Question by : How do i get my GF to lose weight without her getting upset. URGENT?
Lets get one thing straight off the bat, i don’t think she is fat. she is beautiful. Has she gained weight from what she used to be? yes. would some people consider her fat (including herself)? yes.

she is 5’4 130 lbs…. not fat. She is always complaining how she feels she is fat and overweight. I like her the way she is but i want her to be happy and confident with herself. But every time i bring up going to the gym she gets upset and says i think she is fat. She is a good ways away in college so I can’t drag her with me to the gym. The problem is that she doesn’t want to do anything about it. before we started dating she was skinny and in good shape. She used to have a fast metabolism so she could eat whatever she wanted and not gain much weight. All she has to do is walk on a treadmill a little.

Now she always says “i don’t get it, i always use to eat what i wanted and never worked out and was fine. i don’t eat that bad and i keep gaining weight.” In reality she is not a good eater but again she gets upset when i bring it up. It’s like she expects it to magically burn off with no effort.

I don’t know how to get her to eat right and work out without making her upset. She is even seeing a nutritionist but it’s by email, they hardly ever communicate, and she doesn’t listen to the little advice she gets because she thinks her eating habits are fine. And i’m not going to lie, i would like to see her in the shape she used to be but im not going to love her any more or less either way.

so how can push her toward the right track without her getting upset? I’ve already told her that i want her to be happy and confident with herself but she takes that as me saying she is fat.

btw. I am planning on asking her to marry me soon and i know it will bother her for the rest of her life if she doesn’t like her dress size.

Best answer:

Answer by bballislife
Your in luck especially if she feels that way. I’m going to meet y Gf soon we stared going out today and I worry she is bigger than I thought. Evn though she is “thick”. But anyways if she feels that way and tells you go on a vegetable and water diet with her. Also sign up for the YMCA and go with her on the weekend

Question by chikenwasabi: How Much will I lose if I…?
How much Will I lose each week and month if I do this each day:
*Eat 1,500 Calories. (MBR rate = 1,750 calories. This is how many calories my body takes each day, without storing calories as fat.)

*Jog for 10 minutes, walk for 15 minutes, run for 5 minutes, and
I’ll Sprint (10 times) in between jogging, walking, and running. Then Repeat 2 times.

*Use an exercise bike for 60 minutes (2 times = 120 minutes), going at different paces. I burn about 560 Calories and 240 Calories from FAT.

*Plus, 4 reps of 15 pushups = 60 pushups each day.

What’da ya think? I’m 150 pounds and 5’8.

O.k
Listen to me Please don’t give me **** like, “Don’t do this. You’re don’t need to lose weight” I have so MANY reasons why I NEED to do this. So Please just answer my freackin question. Thank you.
I don’t care if there’s no “C” In Freakin. I’ll spell it however I want to.

Best answer:

Answer by Yaton_123
This is good, but at a certain point, you may start to gain muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Also, if your are exercising this much, 1500 calories ain’t enough. You will feel tired and won’t be strong enough to do all that.

At this rate you could lose up to 10- 15 lbs a month.

Question by AmbulanceVoter: Can you explain the caloric cycle and how many calories I should intake/use a day to lose weight?
I know my body burns about 3000 calories without any exercise so my caloric intake always needs to be above that number because if it isn’t I won’t lose weight, my body will go into starvation mode and keep everything I eat as fat. I also know that in order to lose weight I will need to expend/exercise more calories than I take in. What is my optimum caloric intake (or how can I calculate it) for a day and optimum expenditure to lose weight as fast as these people like on “I used to be fat” or “Heavy”?
Results from http://www.mydr.com.au/tools/basal-energy-calculator
Height: 185.42 cm
Weight: 197.312681 kg
Age: 33 years
3484 kilocalories per day.

Ok, run it, and apparently my previous use of a basal metabolism was right. Now that that’s out of the way, anyone want to answer my question? What does my caloric intake and expenditure need to be in order to optimize weight loss.

Best answer:

Answer by Pari Lee
you can go to one of the 11,244,103 calorie counters online and type in your info…wt ht etc etc….also you will find there that you do not burn 3000 cals without exercise…that fact is incorrect

Question by : Has anyone lost weight just from eating healthier?
I know all about the “Burn 3500 calories” in order to lose 1lb of fat. I also am fully aware of the Metabolic Rate. I want to know if I were to just eat 500 calories less than my BMR would I honestly lose 1lb a week…. becasue that is what this BMR vs Calorie intake and burning 3500 calories for one pound is suggesting… Has anyone just ate 500 calories less than their BMR and lost weight?
I dont want any answers saying you have to excersize because that is not the point of my question.

Example:
My BMR is 1300.
If I ate 800
My caloric intake for the day is -500
Theoretically I should have burned 3500 calories in 7 days

ANY ONE KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE?

Best answer:

Answer by Wendy
YES
Stop drinking pop
I lost 10 pounds after a month without pop.
